Kabe-don (壁ドン)

Kabe-don is a romantic trope seen in various shoujo anime and manga. Kabe means “wall” and don is a Japanese onomatopoeia for the thud of hitting a wall. Usually, this is where a tough (sometimes tsundere) character backs another character against the wall, resulting the latter pounding the wall with their fist with one or both arms. It invokes a cool feeling, making the one being pinned against the wall go all doki-doki like this girl here-- EXTREME KABE-DON!!!

[It really had been a while since it was just the two of them hanging out together--what with their busy and often conflicting schedules--but all good things needed to come to an end, as they said, and with the sun about to set, Rin figured it would be best if caught a train before the last one rolled out of the station.

[ She's done it before, and still jokes about it sometimes: I am a sellsword, Shi. I go where money is. There was no money here, only a commitment she had made months before meeting him. Time passed differently between their worlds: a week back home was usually a month in Shi's world--only not always so. Months passed in the weeks it took for her friends back home to seek the hidden Dalamud fragments.

The first time she left, it was without warning. They weren't too close then, and the message from her friend had been urgent enough to immediately leave a world she didn't felt beholden to. She had returned one week later (it would be two weeks for him) with artifacts won and retrieved from the Allagan vaults, knowing she would have to return to finish what they had started--defeat and end Bahamut's existence inside the fallen fragments once and for all.

It arrived yesterday: a metallic staff that glowed blue, marked bright orange with the stamp of Garlond Ironworks, and a letter. Combined, the two things meant: one, technology was progressing, and the engineers had made full use of the weapons brought back from the Second Coil; two, it was time to hopefully end the dreaded primal once and for all.

She had changed out of the kimono, put on the Allagan coat she had worn back after their victory and never again. A visit to the saniwa to explain the situation and she could have left, should have left, but. If someone had told Lyia back then she would find a person who meant so much, she would have laughed in their faces then. But now, now she knows better. With the unfamiliar staff in hand, metal cold against her skin, and her clothes, standing in the hallway should have been message enough. She smiles at him when he walks in, back from a sortie he had been sent on. Voice level, she tells him very simply, ]
